In early June, Free Press photographer Ruth Bonneville launched her red canoe on the Seine River at the Perimeter Highway and set out for a nine-hour paddle.
Her 22-kilometre journey took her through St. Vital and St. Boniface to where the Seine feeds into the Red River near Whittier Park.
She encountered many sights, crossed under many roads, and came upon several other river enthusiasts along the way, in boats and on shore.
Hear the perspective 80-year-old Bill Linton, longtime canoeist and one of the first members of Save the Seine, as he enjoys a day on the water near his home in St. Boniface.
