Mom overcomes smash-up to bear New Year's baby Donna Westwong holds son Evan, Winnipeg's New Year's baby, at the Victoria General Hospital. Born at 4:56 a.m. at six pounds, 11 ounces. On the way to the hospital on New Year's Eve, the family car was rear-ended as it was stopped on the Fort Garry Bridge on Bishop Grandin Blvd. Everyone made it to the hospital just fine.
