His mother, Irene Traverse, 22, celebrated alone. Her husband died seven months ago in an automobile accident. She has two other children, girls aged five and three. Traverse, of Koostatak, 160 kilometres north of Winnipeg, gave birth to her son at the Health Sciences Centre.
