Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes during a huge fire and several explosions at Speedway International Ltd. at 40 Nicolas Avenue in St. Boniface. See the fire through the eyes of Free Press photographers and Winnipeggers who happened upon the scene.

Fire officials estimated there was upwards of 400,000 litres of explosive chemicals on site, including methanol and diesel fuel.
