  • Photographer's choice - Inner city kids experience the pure joy of learning science in the summer camp setting at University of Winnipeg. 5000 kids took part in the free Ecokids Summer Camp since 2008. UofW provides programming, transportation, nutrition supplies and t-shirts for the kids. The camp was cancelled over debate about corporate ethical partnering in 2013. Experiencing the camp first hand over several years made this one my favourite pictures of the year, although the story that played out behind the scenes was very sad for the kids and for the nurturing staff that provided engaging programming and athletics.
