Burton owns the podium.
Tonight was Manitoba night at BC Place.
Here’s what happens: every province gets an evening at the nightly medal ceremony at BC Place and can showcase talent from their province. Chic Gamine were awesome. Grand Analong are always fantastic. Tracey Bone rules. Doc Walker should be the biggest country band in the world. Inward Eye were Inward Eye, which means they turned heads as they always do.
Then came the medals.
Then came Burton. Apparently the show is supposed to wrap at 8:30pm Pacific. Burton was only 1/4 way through his set at 8:30pm Pacific. He treated this evening as if it was Burton Cummings night. And why not? He’s Burton Cummings. American Woman, These Eyes, Albert Flasher, Runnin’ Back to Saskatoon...and about a dozen others. People got their $25.00 worth. Tonight the BC in BC Place stood for Burton Cummings. The North End owned the podium, or at least the area directly behind the actual podium.
