Small kindnesses mean so much
On Dec. 1 I went out to mail a letter and do some shopping. Somehow the letter was lost and never mailed.
The next day we retraced our steps to the shopping centre but could not find the letter.
On Dec. 3, I answered the doorbell to find a Good Samaritan standing there with a tattered envelope in his hand. Hans Ferber, a manager at Home Depot in Garden City Square had found the letter where the high winds had blown it, behind Home Depot.
I am so grateful to Hans because this was a very special thank you card to my cousin Audrey in Stonewall for giving the eulogy at my mother’s funeral. The envelope was torn and dirty from being run over, only my address label was readable. Fortunately, the contents were not damaged.
Small kindnesses are especially appreciated when you are grieving.
Thank you, Hans, for going out of your way to see we got the card back. Your kindness meant so much to me.
