Thanks for the help

I would like to thank the two wonderful ladies who assisted me after I slipped on the ice on the sidewalk near Portage Avenue and Arlington Street on the evening of Dec. 1.

One of these beautiful ladies is named Karen, and I do not know the other lady’s name.

I know I put you both under a lot of undue stress by being adamant that I was not going to be taken to the hospital via ambulance. I lost the argument with the firefighters and did indeed make the trip.

I know you were only doing what you knew deep down had to be done, and I do want to again thank you so much. I also want to thank all the firefighters and paramedics who also put up with my gibberish. All of you were so gentle, respectful and, yes, patient.

Bottom line: nothing was broken and I only needed a few stitches.

Oh, and thanks to the fellow who came running with the gauze.

This note is from someone who is slowly learning how to accept help. I may still need a tad more work in this area!
