A 17-year old girl was granted bail today and released. She'll eventually come back to court to face charges relating to a brutal "mob-style" beating of a man on May. 29.
Crown attorney Brent Davidson said in court that the girl, along with 3 other co-accused [all male] took part in beating and kicking a guy [no location given] after one of his attackers, a full-fledged Indian Posse gang-banger claimed him to be part of rival Native Syndicate street gang.
The four beat the guy so badly his jaw was broken in 3 places and had severe head trauma. He was apparently just coming home from work when he got jumped. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and required extensive surgery to fix the damage done to him.Apparently, the girl - who has no criminal record - was "just so drunk she chose to involve herself" in the savage attack. It gets worse, however. Or better, depending on what kind of person you are:The Indian Posse gangster who initiated the beating, said to be "quite proud" of the damage he did to the unsuspecting guy didn't realize that the guy he was beating on was no Native Syndicate rival, but a member of his own gang that he didn't know!Hate to see what happens to the guy at the next IP meet. Also kind of illuminating that street gangs in Winnipeg have grown so large that members don't all know each other. As for the girl, she'll be back living at her group home tonight, despite the fact she refuses to seek counselling or go to school.Group home supervisor made a request for a special condition to be added to the girl's conditions: that she be forced to abstain from Salvia, a legal intoxicant sold at "head shops" - otherwise known as those places you can buy drug paraphernalia.
