A band of angels helped

I was walking from my daughter’s house to catch a southbound bus at Point Road on Pembina Highway. I stepped up a snowy ridge, walking towards a bench to sit on.

My feet slipped on ice, my butt landing hard on the ice.

The first angel who stopped, told me she was a nurse, she helped me reach the bench and left. Soon a bus stopped, but I was not sure I could make it to the bus. A man from the bus came to my rescue. He assured me that with his help I could get on the bus. Walking caused excruciating pain. My male angel also found a passenger with a cellphone who offered to make some calls.

She called my daughter who sent her husband to pick me up at the bus shelter across from Aaltos. She also called my husband at work to inform him of my fall.

At the bus shelter, two more angels flagged down the red car my son-in-law was driving. By the time I was sitting in his car, I knew that I needed to see a doctor. I asked him to drop me off at the Victoria Hospital. My husband met me there, brought me food and helped me get comfortable.

Another angel helped me get to a washroom despite my being in a lot of pain.

Eventually, X-rays showed I had a fractured pelvis.

A big thank you to all the angels who went out of their way to help me that day.
