Applause for young, unsung heroes

  • Print

LAST week I noticed a flurry of activity along the river path that runs behind my condo on Osborne Street South.

I saw a small army of students and teachers from Churchill High School cleaning up the litter along the walkway, right down to the water’s edge.

They were filling large green plastic bags (which I understand were provided by a Winnipeg BIZ association) with all manner of litter including cans, bottles and plastic shopping bags.

I was told spring cleanup has been an annual event for Churchill students for the past 20 years.

Everyone should be proud of this crew of young Winnipeggers, who are really unsung heroes, in my opinion.
