Bin diver’s honesty impresses
My husband and I were on our way to an appointment at CancerCare Manitoba in the spring. Although it was spring, it was cold and there was still snow on the ground.
It was garbage and recycling day so we had a fair number of people rummaging through the dumpster near our home in the North End of the city when we drove away in our van.
The next day, I noticed my keys were gone. I called everywhere we had been, to no avail, The keys were gone.
The next week on garbage day, I had an unexpected knock on my front door. One of the "bin divers," a native man, was standing there with a note in his hand. It said "if you have lost a set of keys, phone this number." I looked at him in disbelief: he had come back to our house.
I told him I had lost keys, and he said he had to go back to his room to get them. When the man returned in about half an hour, my husband gave him some money, and we both thanked him over and over.
As anyone with a newer vehicle knows, these keys are very expensive to replace, and all my keys, house, garage and more, were also on the set. All of them were returned.
