Bless those angels

I want to express my gratitude to the fabulous nurses in the Step-Down Unit at the Health Sciences Centre. My mom, Theresa Cooke, has been in the unit twice in the past six months.

Her physical health was not the greatest, but the nurses actually managed to make her time there pleasant.

I cannot say enough positive things about Sueli and the extraordinary care she provided not only for my mother, but for all the patients.

Melissa, Norma and Anna are just a few more of many nurses who stand out in my mind. They always have smiles on their faces and go out of their way to make patients comfortable.

At a time when we often hear negative things about the health-care system, I thought it was necessary to recognize and commend the positive people who work in this field.

A big thank you goes out to mom’s surgeon, Dr. Srinathan for his steady hands, excellent bedside manner, ongoing care and support.

Thank you so much to Sueli and the rest of the step-down nurses.

Bless those angels.

— Melissa Ott
