Bunny’s kindness saves Kali the cat

  • Print

Last October, my Siamese cat Kali ran out of the house when the door was left open by one of my daughter’s bandmates.

His adventure landed him with a wonderful 90-year-lady named Bunny. She found Kali in her Winnipeg trailer park and managed to gain his trust by feeding him Fancy Feast every morning at 6 a.m.

He survived the long winter because of her kindness. By spring, Bunny had managed to get him to sit on her, wash his face and ears to the point she was able to read his ear tag.

This incredibly kind, humorous and dedicated lover of animals — Kali was her sixth rescue, and the list includes a horse! — was able to reunite me with my purr-ball of a cat.

Shortly after he returned, our 18-year-cat Galileo, whom Kali loved passed away. To have Kali back at home with his sister Tusamee fills my heart with such love and joy. Without Bunny’s kindness, I might never have had him returned to his loving home.

I would like to share the story of Bunny’s kindness because she turned down any kind of reward or gift of gratitude. My thank you here is to recognize her dignity and humanity.
