During the first week of January I went to Home Depot to purchase a table saw.
After selecting a saw, I realized it was far too large for me to transport back to my house. I walked over to the rentals section of the store to inquire about renting a van, I was told that it was something like $20 for an hour and a half or $60 to have the saw delivered by the end of the week.
I decided to rent the van. Unfortunately I needed a credit card for a damage deposit and I don’t have a credit card. When I asked if I could contact my parents and have them give me their credit card number over the telephone, I was denied and told they would have to come down.
A young fellow in the store overheard my dilemma and mentioned his father had a pickup truck and would be able to help me out. They helped me load the saw onto the back of their truck, followed me to my house and the young man helped me carry it inside.
They wouldn’t even accept any cash for their help, which I offered.
I never did get the name of the young man and his father. So please accept my thanks once again. There truly are "friendly people" in "friendly Manitoba."
