Honesty at the Fringe

A group of us attended a Fringe Festival play at Venue 24 on McDermott Street.

After buying my ticket, I tucked my wallet back in my pocket and didn’t think about it until the next morning when I realized it was lost. I frantically turned the house upside down searching. Credit cards, license, SIN, birth certificate, I carried them all.

I contacted the Fringe office, but nothing had been turned in. It was early, and the staff said they would call me if anything was found.

After tracing my tracks back to a number of stops after the Fringe play, I started the daunting task of replacing my identification and credit cards. Later that same afternoon, someone in the Fringe office called me. They had found my wallet, and it was waiting for me at the ticket office.

They couldn’t tell me who found it or where it was located, but everything was intact, cash, cards and ID.

I was very fortunate that some honest Winnipegger and possibly a Fringe volunteer took the time to turn in my wallet. I am forever grateful and extend my sincere thanks, whoever you are.
