Kind lady makes enormous difference

  • Print

I took my two younger children to Subway for lunch as we were short on time following my morning appointments, and I didn’t have enough lunch materials at home to make a meal.

We stood in the line as they ordered their meals, then we waited for the people ahead. The last customer ahead of me paid then she walked past me and left. As I approached the cashier, he informed me that the customer had paid for our order, too.

She vanished before I could thank her in person.

Thank you, kind lady. Your random act of kindness is most appreciated.

How could you have known, that just this morning I was feeling oppressed again by the challenges of raising three great kids on my own, and having limited resources to be able to support all their dreams?

There are many barriers I encounter daily in my efforts to get ahead (or at the very least, stay afloat) in this world that just doesn’t balance out for us little guys.

How could you know how tired I sometimes feel?

Your thoughtfulness restored some of my faith in humankind, dear lady. It gave me energy to keep up the pace and make each day truly count.

I will remember how you made me feel today, and I promise, I will pay it forward.

— F. Morris
