Kindness, generosity went a long way

  • Print

We were in a rush to get some errands done after work so we can make it to my niece’s 7th birthday dinner on time.

We stopped by Home Depot on Leila Avenue to pick a few things up for our basement renovations. Because we were in a rush to make it to the dinner, I told my husband I’d leave him with our 16-month-old daughter to pay for the items in our shopping cart while I walked over to the Safeway at the other end of the strip mall to pick up some milk for our daughter.

While paying for the milk, I got a call from my husband. He had locked our daughter in the car with the keys in the vehicle. He thought they must have fallen out of his pocket when putting her in the car seat.

Being a worried mom, I ran back to the car with my jug of milk and was very flustered. My husband called my brother to pick him up and drive him to our house to get the spare key.

Luckily, a kind young couple pulled up with their son, also 16 months old and asked if we needed help. The man said it would be much faster if he drove my husband to get the spare key. Without another thought, my husband hopped in the car with the couple.

Because of the wonderful act of kindness of this couple, we were able to get my baby girl out of the car and I was able to hold her in my arms to comfort her.

We cannot thank you enough for going out of your way and helping us on that stressful evening. Your kindness and generosity went a long way.
