May kindness double back
My 18-year-old daughter recently hit a path of ice as she turned west from Portage Avenue onto the Moray Street Bridge and was propelled first into the right side of the bridge and then into the left.
Thank goodness she wasn’t hurt, although she was very shaken up and unsure what to do. She tried to no avail to get the driver’s door open (it was against the bridge) and then the passenger door (which had been damaged in the initial impact), as rush-hour traffic continued to speed by.
Finally, a woman stopped and checked to see if she was all right. This kind soul then encouraged her to move the truck off the bridge and actually followed her all the way to her destination.
The fender was obstructing the movement of the wheels, and I gather it was a difficult drive — but this wonderful lady was right behind her all the way.
I want to thank this individual for the support and assistance she gave my daughter. I certainly hope that if she is ever in trouble, this kindness will come back to her.
