I have been taking Winnipeg Transit every morning to work and so, often observe mothers and children on the bus interacting with each other.
More often than not, the interaction is not very positive, with the child often simply needing his or her mother’s attention and love.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have observed a wonderful interaction between a mother and her toddler daughter. The beautiful sounds of the daughter’s laughter and simple words, combined with the mother’s own positive and loving responses back, have brought tears to my eyes, and reminded me of how precious those years are.
Being a mother myself, I know how life can be sometimes and how difficult it can be to be patient and loving when you’re not feeling like it.
So to hear a mother on the bus at 8 a.m. lovingly interacting with her daughter in this way on a consistent basis, makes for a great bus ride to work in the mornings.
And by the way, I hope the mother I’m talking about reads this note of encouragement: you take the No. 11 and get off at Colony and Portage. Thank you for making my mornings a delight and sharing your love for your child with everyone else on the bus.
