Setting a beautiful example
The snow in our driveway was up to my sons’ shoulders as my husband was away on business and he normally handles all the shovelling duties.
The children and I shovelled for about two hours and then went inside for supper. We hardly made a dent in the driveway.
My husband arrived back from his trip and soon all five of us (me, my husband and our three children ages 2, 4, 6) went out to tackle the snow.
We had been shovelling for about 10 minutes when four teenagers and their youth group leader from the church down the street, The Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, approached us and asked if we wanted help shovelling. They literally cleared our driveway in 10 minutes.
My husband offered them money many times, but they declined. They said to give the money to a church if we wished.
They then continued down the road with shovels in hand, laughing and enjoying the beautiful evening.
We are so thankful to have such wonderful neighbours in this church and what great life lessons this church is teaching these fine young men. My children saw a beautiful example that evening.
