Six kind people in one day

We had to drive to Transcona from River Heights to pick up our granddaughter at school. On the way home, after battling snowy streets, our engine died at River Avenue and Main Street.

Four men stopped their cars and a cyclist stopped, too, to help my husband get our car to the side of the road and out of rush-hour traffic. Then a lady named Chrissie came out of the Fort Rouge school with her son and offered me, my granddaughter and my daughter a ride to Safeway on River Avenue.

I related to her how I was just talking about Random Acts of Kindness yesterday as I make a point of doing them, but I rarely have them done back to me until that day.

Inside Safeway, no way was any cab company answering phones. It was a dilemma, I said a little prayer and walked outside to see what our options were. Just then, a cab driven by a driver called Frank pulls up from nowhere and hails us in and drove us safely home.

I would like to thank, the men who pushed us without us asking, the brave cyclist, Chrissie, who offered us a ride through horrendous roads, and Frank, the kind taxi driver who just happened to pull into Safeway at the right moment. Six kind people in one day. Thank you all.
