I had finished shopping at Superstore on a recent Saturday afternoon and was ready to pay for my groceries with my credit card.
To my surprise — and dismay — the terminal said my card was declined. The clerk tried it and got the same answer.
I looked at my card more closely and realized I had grabbed a different card than I usually used, although it still should have been valid.
But I knew I had another card a few minutes away and asked if I could go and get it. The clerk said I could finish bagging my groceries first, and when I was ready I turned around to tell the clerk I was going out to get my card. To my huge surprise she told me, "Your groceries are paid for!"
I was astounded that a very kind woman waiting next in line had pulled out her credit card and covered my bill of almost $60!
I was almost speechless and struggled for words to express my appreciation but thanked her as warmly as I could. I’m a senior citizen, and this was a bigger order than I usually have. I smiled all the way home and just thinking about it, I feel so blessed that someone should do this for me.
It was certainly an outstanding Random Act of Kindness!
