So many helping hands
My husband, Jack, and I were out for a morning walk on Pandora Ave in Transcona when Jack slipped on ice under water. He fell heavily and was unable to get up by himself nor could I help. It was so slippery and wet there was just no footing.
Two ladies were the first to help and were followed immediately by a gentleman.
We managed to get Jack upright and then realized he was unable to walk. One of the ladies had gone to get her vehicle to give us a ride, but when we realized we needed an ambulance, we thanked her and she left. I did not get her name, but I wish to thank her for her kindness.
John and Joyce were with us still and John phoned for the ambulance, then went and brought his SUV so Jack could sit and wait for the ambulance. Joyce stayed to give support.
A friend and co-worker of John’s came and after the ambulance arrived drove me home so I could get our car.
Jack’s hip was broken and he needed surgery.
Thank you again and again to John and Joyce and all the others concerned enough to stop and see how we were. Thanks also to the paramedics and the emergency staff at Concordia Hospital. Everyone was great.
Words fail me in telling you what the kindness of these people meant to us.
