Surrounded by help in seconds

  • Print

I was hit by a truck while walking across the intersection of Wellington Crescent and Hugo Street.

It was a very scary experience for me, but there were so many wonderful people who each took a role to help and I’d like to thank them.

Within seconds of the accident I was surrounded by people.

Thank you to the women who seemed very calm and in control and kept telling me not to move.

Thank you to the men who were directing traffic and called 911.

I was fortune to get the phone number of one couple that was helping and got to thank them but also one more thank you for them.

Thank you to the paramedics and firefighters.

Also to the man who hit me. I don’t know his name, but I want him to know that I’m OK and that he handled the situation well. Ultimately, it was just an accident.

All of the kind people I’ve mentioned will forever be in my memories.

— Amy Douglas
