Thank you, Harry

I recently underwent surgery for a shoulder replacement and the next week my husband got very ill and was admitted to hospital.

We had a tough couple of weeks in August.

We are blessed with caring friends and amazing neighbours who were there for us in a million ways. The act of kindness that touched us the most though was from a total stranger.

I’d had to call an ambulance when my husband became very ill. He is on many medications and has them all organized in an old Air Canada case. The ambulance attendants placed his medication case on the stretcher. While putting him into the ambulance, the case must have fallen onto the back bumper and the first bump on Pembina Highway sent the case flying onto the road.

Enter Harry Zubriski into our lives. Mr. Zubriski saw the case being volleyed around Pembina Highway. He continued along Pembina, made a U-turn when he could, went back, parked his car and walked into to the road to retrieve the case. He took it home and notified our pharmacy, Safeway on Kenaston Boulevard.

By the time I got home from the hospital, there was a message from Safeway that Mr. Zubriski had called them and personally delivered the case to them. Safeway saved what they could, and by the next afternoon I had my husband’s medications home safe and sound.

Thanks to Mr. Zubriski and Safeway Pharmacy, we had one less thing to worry about.

I am here to tell you what I have always known: there are Angels among us. I know this as I have talked to one of them on the phone and apparently they occasionally drive down Pembina Highway.
