Thanks to life-saving trucker
It was many years ago, maybe 17, on Highway 220 that I owe my life to a trucker.
I was leaving a Colony School near Oak Hammock Marsh, and was stopped at the end of the driveway. I waited for a truck to pass from my right and then for a truck approaching on my left. As he passed, I pulled out before rechecking my right side again and continued to make a left turn.
Suddenly a shower of snow sprayed over my small car.
I checked my mirror and in the ditch, right behind me, was a huge truck buried in the deep snow. The driver had made a split second decision to leave the highway to avoid me hitting me.
He said it was either hit the ditch or demolish me. I asked him if there was anything I could do and he said he would radio for help.
I drove home and ever since have wanted to thank him profusely for my life. I tried to find out where I could reach him but met dead ends.
Thank you is not really enough, but I am eternally grateful to this trucker and I want him to know.
I am now retired and enjoying life and all my grandchildren, so many thanks for the split decision you made. I hope you recognize yourself and realize how thankful I am to be here.
