To my winter angel
I was on my way to appointment in Winnipeg. My car started to vibrate and smell of burnt rubber.
As soon as I could, I pulled into a gas bar station off Linden Woods Drive hoping to receive some assistance with my flat tire — to no avail. I was left alone to try to remove the bolts that kept my tire on so firm.
The first three were easy; the other two felt impossible to turn.
As I struggled with the tire wrench in minus-20 degree weather, the tears of frustration came rolling down my face. Then a voice from a stranger asked if he could give me a hand.
This kind, thoughtful, caring man helped take off my tire, and he placed my spare tire on for me. When I asked what I owe him, he looked at me and said, "You don’t. Merry Christmas!"
If you are the wonderful gentleman that stopped at the Safeway Gas Bar in Linden Woods on Dec. 12, thank you so very much for extending your hands to assist me in my time of despair. May God bless you many, many times, You are my winter Angel.
Thanks so very much.
— Ash Smith
