Warm hands, warm heart

My husband, daughter, good friend and I were volunteering at a Bomber game earlier this season.

It was a beautiful evening until the sun went down and it turned very cold. Unfortunately, our team was down considerably — we staged an incredible comeback — and a few chilly fans were leaving in the third quarter.

As I chatted with a lovely young couple on their way out, the woman noticed me shivering and said she hoped I would stay warm until the end of the game. I smiled, stomped my feet and clapped my hands, but I was really, really cold.

A moment later she returned holding out her cosy black mittens, saying that I needed them more than she did. She insisted I keep them to stay warm.

I was so touched! I told her that I would pay her kindness forward many times.

The mittens worked: they warmed my hands and my heart. A warm thank you to that generous and thoughtful Bomber fan!
