What a gentleman

  • Print

We would like to express our gratitude to a gentleman who took the time to help us out of a bad situation.

My husband and I were driving south of the perimeter on our way to a friend’s house for dinner when our car went into a ditch. A man travelling in the car behind us saw what happened and stopped to see if we were OK. He said he would be back to help once he dropped his daughter at her friend’s.

It was early evening and cold outside. While he was gone, we tried shoveling out, but the car had sunk pretty deep into the soft snow.

He came back with a couple of friends, and I was so relieved. They also tried shoveling, but the car was in pretty solid so I put in a call to CAA.

A snow plow happened along and luckily one of the rescuers had a tow rope and the car was pulled out.

I called CAA to cancel the call, and we thanked all the rescuers and were on our way once again, just a little late for dinner.

It is as simple as it sounds because of one gentleman who took the time to stop and check on us and bring extra help. I know CAA would have come, it would probably have taken a lot longer than the approximately 30 minutes it did take.

In light of the incident in Toronto of the senior — we are also seniors — who perished because no one responded to her cries for help made me so grateful to the gentleman who stopped to help.
