Kelly wants the ball

Mike Kelly says he wants the ball.

And then he knows what he'll do with it.

The Blue Bombers coach put his club through their last practice before they travel to Edmonton forThursday's season opener against the Eskimos and after practice admitted he'd love to receive the ball to open the game.

"We've got our entire opening sequence scripted," said Kelly. "I've got a page of plays for different situations but the first play of the game is set. We've been rehearsing it."

Defensive tackle Doug Brown was back at practice and appears sound and set for Thursday's game.

Lineback Siddeeq Shabazz has switched from No. 1 to No. 20.

There was a backlash from fans that the club had already handed out the number of former running back Charles Roberts and after a few days to think it over the team has put No. 1 in a trunk for the time being.
