With a respectful hat tip to Wine in the 'Peg
, two things I meant to mention in the last few days (which have been taken up by day job stuff and trying to figure out my new laptop):
- Some wines poured at the Winnipeg Wine Festival in the main public tasting area are brought in exclusively for the show, while others are introduced to Manitoba and are subsequently kept around. I was in the Grant Park Liquor Mart over the weekend and noticed they have a big shelf full of the former, so have a gander and pick up those that you tried and liked while quantities last.
- In order to make room for new wines, sometimes the slower sellers have got to go. To that end, check out the selection of wines that have been discontinued, and are as a result marked down quite nicely. The bigger Liquor Marts will have better quantities, but most stores should have at least some selection (case in point - I was in the cityplace location today and saw some discontinued wines there). Again, while quantities last.
I'm just putting the finishing touches on my list of Wine Festival faves, and should hopefully have that up tomorrow...
