Quick hit while I wait for the final details of the Winnipeg Wine Festival's ancillary events to be posted - I have a rough list but am waiting on a few events to be confirmed.
There's an interesting piece that was just posted at Palate Press titled There's a Reason No One Reads Wine Blogs. And while I find the capitalization on the blog's title a little painful, the core message of the post is key - wine blogs aren't nearly as popular as they should be because of an abundance of reviews as well as a lack of engaging content and networking.
Since this blog exists on a mainstream publication, it probably gets more traffic than many wine blogs out there. And since so many of my posts as of late have simply been little tidbits of info about upcoming events, etc., I'm feeling a little guilty.
So I've decided to engage a little more through this blog - a little more opinion, attitude, behind-the-scenes stuff (whenever possible - here I'm thinking specifically of during the Winnipeg Wine Festival), etc. I'll add some reviews too, whether it be stuff I can't fit in the column, stuff that may no longer be available but of interest to readers, etc.
I'll also try and link out to interesting/hot topic stuff in wine blogs/websites/etc. whenever possible, which in and of itself should mean I'll be updating this space more frequently. And hey, if you want me to sound off on anything wine/drinks/food/etc. related, shoot me an email.
