Hey, it's a long weekend! Wondering where and when you can buy wine this weekend? Here are some helpful hints:
- Manitoba's Liquor Marts are closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
- The hours for Manitoba's private wine stores will vary from store to store. From what I can gather, most stores are operating as per usual on Saturday - beyond that, it's best to check with your local store.
Here's what I mean: Fenton's Wine Merchants at the Forks is open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day right through the weekend, De Luca Fine Wines will be closed Good Friday and on Sunday, with regular Saturday and Monday hours, Banville & Jones is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Good Friday, and all other days are regular operating hours, and both La Boutique del Vino and G.J. Andrews (formerly Stephen & Andrews) are closed Friday and Sunday.
So... I guess what I'm saying is that you should call ahead to find out whether the private wine store in your neighbourhood is open, and when.
Here's another installment of GrapeNutTV for you - I'm gearing up to do a lot of video in conjunction with the Winnipeg Wine Festival, and I promise that the next time I appear in front of the camera I'll look far less disheveled:
Oh, and the answer to the question in the title of this blog: try an Aussie Grenache, an entry-level Cabernet Sauvignon, or Chilean Carmènere.
Have a great weekend!
