The Bombers held a shorts and ball-hats-only walk-through practice this morning in advance of tonight's Blue-Gold Scrimmage. A few of the things we'll be monitoring in the mock game:

How comfy do the four QBs look at the controls? We've been impressed with Stefan LeFors since Day 1 -- he doesn't overwhelm you with his physical play, but puts the ball where it needs to be consistently. James Kilian is said to be a lock at No. 2. He's had his moments, we'll agree, but we honestly can't see a significant difference between what he does daily and the work of Bryan Randall and Richie Williams.
How will the OL shake down? As we've written earlier, we don't think these guys will be as bad as some believe. If you pencil in Obby Khan at centre -- he was off crutches today and said he'll be good to go after tweaking his knee - and have Kelly Bates and Brendon LaBatte at guard, then who lines up at tackle?
Who stands up in the secondary? There's a lot of potential here, but we'd be lying if we said we knew who was going to line up where.
Which of the newcomers makes it impossible to be cut by playing well? We've liked Brandon Stewart, Darrius Battles, Ronyell Whitaker and Keyuo Craver in the air defence; Jasper Johnson at linebacker and Aaron McConnell and Montez Murphy at DL, Justin Surrency and Tyrone Timmons at WR and both Lavarus Giles and Yvenson Bernard at RB. But they can't all play well and the team should shrink its roster before next Wednesday's game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to better evaluate the talent.

PK Dan Giancola (groin) still isn't kicking. The staff hopes to see him hoofing on Sunday. In the meantime, Alexis Serna has been steady in the field-goal department and his punting is coming along.

OL Lorne Plante, the former U of M Bison, could be en route. He was released by the Lions and could offer the Bombers some depth in the trenches.

Still tough to figure the Joe McGrath schmozzle in Regina. In case you missed it the Riders traded McGrath back to Edmonton on Thursday after he made it clear he didn't want to be in Saskatchewan - this just four months after he left the Eskimos in free agency. That prompted this bit from Rider DT Scott Schultz, also of Moose Jaw, in an interview with CBC's Glenn Reid Friday this morning:

"Man, I'm gonna start saying I'm from Grand Forks because he's giving Moose Jaw a bad name! I don't know, whatever. He's got his own druthers and I wish him the best. We definitely don't want any miserable players around here. If he was miserable or really unhappy then I'm glad that he got his way and he's outta here because we don't want that on our team.

"I don't know, what do we play them, 2, 3, 4 times this year? It's going to be fun!"
