-Don’t know how anybody can really trash Stefan LeFors after his effort (nine for 21 for 145 yards with a interception returned for a TD) against the Als. Sure, he didn’t look as good as he did the week previous against the Ticats and he’s got a long way to go yet, but three quarters work is hardly enough to toss him under the bus and start proclaiming Bryan Randall as the starter. That may come down the road, but it’s too soon to pull the trigger on that move yet.

-Yes, Lavarus Giles does look that good. But a big part of being a regular and productive back in this league is doing it consistently and staying healthy. That’s what separates the Charles Roberts’ and Joffrey Reynolds’ of this world from guys like John Avery or Robert Edwards.

Rumour du jour: the Als will cut Reggie Hunt on Thursday and scoop up JoJuan Armour, dumped earlier this week by the Calgary Stampeders. Armour, you may recall, had a deal with the Als as a free agent last year but balked at the last minute before heading to Calgary.
Expect Bobby Singh to resurface with the Lions this week. He was released by the Bombers in May.
Saskatchewan has now lost two Canadian OL for a spell – Wayne Smith is gone for the year with a torn Achilles while Gene Makowsky will be lost for a month after suffering a knee injury Tuesday.
The Als trimmed their roster this afternoon:

The Montreal Alouettes announced today that the following players have been released:

- Blue Adams, cornerback
- Rodney Hardeway, defensive end
- Frantz Hardy, receiver
- Kevin Marion, receiver
- Robbie Powell, guard
- Chris Rutledge, offensive tackle
- Jay Staggs, linebacker
- Joshua Thompson, defensive tackle
- Jamaine Winborne, linebacker

The following players have retired:
- Nickolas Morin-Soucy, defensive end
- Benoit Boulanger, fullback
- Matt Singer, guard

-B.C. also made some moves:
Lions release 11 entering 2009 regular season

(Vancouver) BC Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono trimmed his roster by 11 names this morning as the club nears the CFL-mandated roster of 46 active players and a seven-man practice roster. Among the players released were second-year defensive lineman Caesar Rayford and veteran defensive lineman Kyle Mitchell.

"These decisions are never easy, but I am confident that the team we are assembling will be very competitive and give our fans plenty to cheer about this season," said Buono.

Other players released include:

56 - Josh Bean (LB) 23 - Damian Sims (RB) 40 - David Mills (LS)
85 - Otis Amey (WR) 43 - Trestin George (DB) 66 - Darren Marquez (OL)
20 – Mike McEachern (S) 96 - Melik Brown (DL) 62 - Matt Morencie (OL)
