Former Winnipeg police deputy Chief Menno Zacharias has another blog post on Mayor Sam Katz’s push for a police helicopter.
This should be required reading for anyone considering agreeing to fund $1.3 million a year to keep a helicopter in the air, which is exactly what the Selinger government is pondering.
City hall has already approved spending $3.5 million to buy a chopper. Katz wants it in the air later this year.
Zacharias left the force a couple of years ago when Keith McCaskill became chief. Zacharias now works for the province doing preparatory work on the upcoming inquiry into the death of Phoenix Sinclair.
