Kudos to the Gabba gang
For the first time on my life as a parent, I was looking forward to a kids show just as much as my three-year-old son (Okay, maybe more).
DJ Lance Rock and the Yo Gabba Gabba gang were in Winnipeg Wednesday night in front of a fairly small audience at the MTS Centre, but the crowd of mostly toddlers and their parents had one big dancey dance party.
And that's really all this could be described as. The beauty of the Yo Gabba Gabba show is that the creators have obviously attempted to make it just as entertaining for parents as it is for kids. Why else would they convince regular Yo Gabba Gabba guest Biz Markie to come on the road with them? For those of you who don't know Biz Markie, you might remember this hit from 1989.
The 80's rap star got the biggest cheers of the night when he showed up on stage. It's absolutely hilarious to see Biz sit on the edge of the stage with kids on his lap lap, giving them beat boxing lessons.
I, for one, will be glad to see this spectacle again if and when it rolls through town. And for you parents who have't seen the TV show, please sit down (and stand up for dancey dance time) with the kids and check it out.
I'll be proudly wearing my official Biz Markie Yo Gabba Gabba t-shirt at work until management tells me I can no longer do so.
