Dear What: He gave you a pile of hooey, honey. The reasons for breaking up make no sense; you gave him an exciting birthday party, and always initiated social things he wouldn't do. Not your fault! The guy's a couch potato, girlfriend! Does that not turn you off? Check harder for another girl hidden in this situation. Or, it may have been overexposure -- seeing each other all day at work where you can't touch or be a real couple, and then seeing each other at night, and never going out. It's too late for this relationship. Now it's time for you to get another job and get away from him. You need a place to start fresh, where you refuse to date any of the employees.
Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I read your column about the mother who's fuming about her son and girlfriend's secret sleepover. I just wanted to write in on behalf of the teenager/university aged students. Parents feel sleepovers are the key to sex in people our age, although statistics show that the most teen pregnancies happen between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., when parents aren't usually home. When we have sleepovers, we are just like regular people who need sleep. We aren't up all night having sex. We just want a cuddle buddy. So parents, talk to your kids, make sure they're responsible, and maybe call the house between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. -- Cuddle Buddy, Winnipeg
Dear Cuddly: The high school kids who get privacy before the folks get home from work may not be planning to do the whole sex thing and be quite unprepared when "superheat" takes over in waves at 4:30 p.m. and they stop caring about the pregnancy risk. That's why both sexes should always carry a good quality latex three-pack. The girlfriend also needs a back-up contraceptive, the pill being most reliable. As for boyfriends and girlfriends who frequently cuddle under the covers all night -- with or without underwear -- pull-ease! They naturally end up having sex. Country kids come to the city at 17-18 and group together to get apartments. City kids can do the same, but they need to fight for it with the folks (which sometimes gets them permission for sleepovers instead).
