"I am reading The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elisabeth Tova Bailey. A friend sent it to me for my birthday, which followed my dad's death in October. It's a memoir about a time in Bailey's life when she was ill and bedridden for years. Her friend brought her in some wild plants from the forest near where she lived and there was a snail living among them. Her only companion was the snail and she got to know its habits. Bailey's own reflections, like how the smallest of companions can make a difference, are thought-provoking. The snail lived a busy life compared to hers at that point in her recovery. It's a wonderful story about life, a snail, courage and what matters."
