Winnipeg Free Press - PRINT EDITION
Over the past few years, I have developed an interest in street photography.
The inspiration for much of this work comes from documentary director/photographer John Paskievich, who recorded Winnipeg's North End from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s, and photojournalist Colin Corneau, who currently shoots in Brandon.
In essence, the goal is to document candid human interaction in public spaces.
And so, in between work assignments and in my free time, I walk around downtown Winnipeg and take pictures.
I look for shapes and patterns, light and symmetry, and try to capture the architecture, the space and the people.
I like the spontaneity of this photographic style. You can walk along the same street many times, but the light and the people change moment by moment.
