Re: Fix transparency, 311 (Letters, April 7).
Letter writer Shane Nestruck nailed it -- from the onset, the 311 city service has been nothing more than a sham, a smokescreen to protect city workers from the wrath of the dissatisfied public.
Anyone who has bothered to call 311 knows all too well that if the pertinent city department actually gets the message, it takes weeks (if not months) to respond. Even then, it takes further weeks and months to fix the problem -- that is, of course, if they show up at all.
