Letter of the Day
A vivid reminder
Re: War and memory (Nov. 10). Thank you for the excellent FYI section. I was impressed by the scope of the articles and how they reminded us to remember our veterans. Just reading them made me realize how much is owed by us to every Canadian who ever served or who currently serves in our armed forces in whatever capacity.
We take so much for granted. We assume that what we have came without cost, and that we will always have what we have without further sacrifice.
Your coverage of this Remembrance Day was a vivid reminder of what we have to be forever thankful for and to whom we need to be thankful.
I will keep those articles and read and re-read them in the days and months to come, whenever I become complacent about our freedoms, security and our good fortune to live where we do.
To those who served and did not return, to those who served and did return, and to those who continue to serve, my eternal thanks and gratitude.
