Letter of the Day

An opportunity to commit

Re: Museum officials decry city's 10 per cent funding cut (Jan. 15). The Manitoba Children's Museum is a Winnipeg treasure that provides 300,000 free passes a year to underprivileged children. This program will now have to be considerably reduced. Real class act, city councillors.

I can only hope that one of these councillors will realize the incredible opportunity to show their commitment to our city and to their constituents and contribute half their ward allowance increase to the children's museum so it can continue to operate its invaluable programs.

If even one child spends one day at the museum, instead of vandalizing their neighbourhood or burning down a garage somewhere, we will have saved a lot more than the $21,000 needed to keep this program going.
