Why are atheists so easily offended by Christians nowadays (Derisive attitude, Letters, Dec. 4)? They used to ignore us or laugh at us if we ever offered to help them get to heaven. After all, atheists have the world by the tail compared to us Christians.
Atheists can indulge in any pleasures they wish, while we Christians are afraid to. They can have sex with anyone they desire, whenever they desire, while we are bound to one partner for life.
Atheists can spend tons of money on luxuries, vacations, cosmetic surgeries, and so on, while we have to give to charity and to the church.
Atheists can go to rock concerts and see Mick Jagger, AC/DC and Paul McCartney, while we have to listen to choirs and Andy Williams.
Atheists are generally more intelligent, understand science and history better, and are more successful, while we Christians are known to be weak-minded and need God or Jesus to guide us in everything.
I even checked with the dictionary to make sure I capitalized the right words here, so please give us a break. Sorry, that would be too Christian, I guess.
Could it be that we Christians are a reminder to atheists of something they are afraid of? If that's the case, I apologize.
If it will make atheists feel better, we can offer to throw ourselves into the lion pit at the zoo. Oh, sorry, it's no longer politically correct to use live animals for entertainment.
Tell you what. We can get the B.C. Lions to slaughter us at Investors Group Field, unless you think that's too much like watching the Bombers.
