Belittling her success
On Aug. 16, you featured a photo of soccer player and bronze medal winner Desiree Scott headlined Bronze beauty.
I bet you didn't mean to belittle our pride in Scott's performance at the Olympics by remarking upon her physical appearance. I bet you know that her success has nothing to do with what she looks like, and everything to do with hard work and talent.
I bet you even understand how degrading it is to equate the extraordinary achievement of an Olympic medal with the lucky chance of physical beauty. And yet you did it. Why?
