While I understand his rationale in wanting to avoid association with party politics, mayoral candidate Brian Bowman should know Winnipeggers are not fools (Outsider hopes to woo voters from all parties, May 7).
A quick look at his history finds a strong connection and association between the PC Party of Manitoba and Bowman, who was even considered at one point for its leadership.
There's nothing fundamentally wrong with one's choice of political party; what's wrong here is that Bowman has distanced himself from and embellished both past and present political affiliations.
Why not be entirely honest, discuss previous affiliations and still announce your intention to build a wide range of support from across the spectrum?
Winnipeggers, especially those looking for a fundamental shift in municipal leadership, deserve better.
