Thanks to the city, my backyard looks like the Brady Road landfill. Stacked around my garbage and recycling bins are four cans and four tall paper bags stuffed with leaves and dead plants, while my compost bin is full.
Unfortunately, while the garbage and recycling will be picked up this week, the bags and cans won't, because for some inexplicable reason composting is only picked up every two weeks.
Why it isn't picked up weekly in October is beyond me, especially when the city shut down its leaf drop-off depots. I could drive to Brady Road, but why should I buy gas for the long drive from my home when I'm already paying high taxes for my curbside services?
I can only guess the mess in my yard if it rains, since I have no indoor space to store the bags and not enough lids for the cans. Thanks, city councillors, for another service that doesn't meet the needs of its citizens.
