Your June 15 story The old wooden church, citing the history of the Parish of St. James and its significance in the naming and development of the former City of St. James, is most informative. As the manager of the cemetery, however, I strongly object to the photograph accompanying the story.
Ignoring our beautiful new walkway, gates and benches and the neatly trimmed grounds surrounding the church, you instead chose to find one of the last sections yet to be cut by our two-man maintenance crew.
You present to your readership a derelict, disrespected and uncared-for cemetery with tangled weeds, long grass and broken, toppled and leaning grave markers.
I would encourage your readers to come to visit this hidden gem, peaceful and serene in the midst of a bustling metropolis.
