Letter of the Day

Champion of the lowliest

How appropriate to bestow the highest honour Canada has to offer on one who is a champion of the lowliest in the province with the highest rate of poverty in the country (Harvest boss invested into Order of Canada, May 26).

The Order of Canada presented to David Northcott of Winnipeg Harvest is a truly deserving tribute. The transformation that has taken place at that address over the last 30 years, thanks to him and Harvest's many dedicated volunteers, is an accomplishment of Herculean proportions.
